About
The ABGU Young Professionals, established in 1995, is an active organization that caters to the enhancement of the Armenian professional’s personal and professional life. Our membership is comprised of individuals who live in the Southern California area.
Established in 1995, The Young Professional (YPs) mission has been to create an exciting environment that encourages fellow Armenian professionals to network and create a greater sense of community through its many activities and volunteering services. Currently there are more than one thousand young Armenian Americans in the Southern California area who participate in various volunteering and socializing activities organized by the YPs.
Through our various social activities such as “Havana Nights - YP style” party, “Crazy about the Classics” series, Hollywood Bowl concerts, day trips to Catalina and Wine Country, “After-Taxes Mixer”, Hiking trips, movie screenings, comedy events and so on, we have been able to not only socialize and network but have in the process raised money for various deserving AGBU programs such as the college Internship program headed in New York, the American University of Armenia’s AUA Digital Library, and other various programs supported by AGBU as a whole.
Also, as part of an effort to promote Armenian artists, the Los Angeles YPs created Arvest, a large scale annual showcase of various visual, literary and performing artists. Over the years, Arvest has displayed the works of established and emerging Armenian artists from all over the world and drawn a diverse audience to be a part of the celebration of Armenian art.
As part of a growing professional organization, there are future programs being established to give more opportunities to the YPs to give back to its community and especially to its growing recent college graduate populations. Among the future program are:
- Competitions for grants awarded to innovative future professionals;
- and A professional development program for recently graduated Armenian college students whereby established AGBU young professionals will volunteer to participate in the guidance of the future Armenian workforce through resume work shops and professional networking parties for future employment opportunities.
As the AGBU Young Professional Community continues to grow, we look forward to continue to serve the community and create an exciting environment for future professionals.
Thank you for your support!
